MARPOL
The International Maritime Organization (United Nations) has set strict rules for ships and ports for the disposal of waste at sea. The Oman Maritime Waste Treatment LLC facilitates the Port of Sohar exclusively as per contract by collecting Marpol classified waste from ships. OMWT’s service covers seaside collection by large and land-side collection with trucks.
Our end-to-end waste management and disposal service helps collect discharging waste from ships in the sea to safeguard the marine environment. Keeping the MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) regulatory compliance in check, we signed up a contract with the Port of Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman to set up the first integrated PWRF in Sohar.
The project provides an integrated waste treatment plant, with a capacity of over 50,000 cbm of oily waste per year.
The best available techniques are used by a combination of physiochemical and biological treatment technologies for oil recovery and for extracting and purifying water from oil sludge. Also, we put the effort into sorting out the garbage to its best next use.
We provide collective service to the ships stopping at this port and on-shore facility to treat the wastewater by using a combination of physiochemical and biological treatment technologies and recovering oils from wastewater. Moreover, we further discharge the treated water back into the sea.
